Skate 3 Browser Game — Play Online in Chrome or Edge
This Skate 3 browser guide embeds andrewnakas’s skate3-cleanroom fan project. Play skate 3 online in the author’s hosted build, then use the documented controls, community map options and multiplayer limits below. No standalone download or installation is required; the browser still fetches game resources. All technical descriptions are sourced to the project README or play page, not performance tests by this site.

Skate 3 browser project
A different way to skate.
Choose your park and skate right in your browser.
What you can play in the browser
The project README describes skate3-cleanroom as the Skate 3 Rust/Bevy engine rewrite compiled to WebAssembly and WebGPU. This page embeds the author’s hosted build. It is a browser fan project, with the content and limits described below; it is not a browser port published by EA.
The README identifies two original parks and a bike mod among the pack’s contents. These are different kinds of content: dmjumpline and KenneyPark are maps, while Freestyle MX is a vehicle mod. They should not be presented as three maps or as a complete list of every option in the hosted map picker.
dmjumpline is the author’s own map, converted from a Descenders mod using their own tool. The README says it is shipped as-is and included in the taint scanning. KenneyPark is an original park assembled from Kenney’s Mini Skate kit, licensed CC0, using skatemods Map Studio.
Freestyle MX is an engine SDK example. Its Lua script runs on the web as a built-in Rust port. The bike model is “KTM 450 EXC” by mx-3d on Sketchfab, licensed CC BY 4.0. That attribution belongs to the model’s creator and remains separate from the engine author’s credit.
Skate 3 browser game controls
Controls as listed on the project’s play page. The table maps keyboard keys to Xbox-style controller inputs. It does not identify which key performs an ollie, flip or grab, and this guide does not infer those moves from the input mapping.
The README points readers to docs/web.md in the engine repository’s cleanroom-web branch. That linked document was unavailable when checked on October 10, 2026, returning 404. The controls below therefore come from the project’s hosted play page.
| Keyboard | Xbox controller input |
|---|---|
| W A S D | Left stick |
| Arrow keys | Right stick |
| Space | A |
| E | B |
| Shift | X |
| F | Y |
| Z / C | Triggers (LT / RT) |
| Q / R | Bumpers (LB / RB) |
| Enter | Start |
Gamepads: the play page says gamepads work directly. We have not checked an XInput device or a particular controller configuration. Treat that statement as project documentation, rather than a compatibility result from this website.
Phones and tablets: the play page describes an on-screen pad. In bike mode, it lists Bike = F9, Y to get on, RT for throttle, and holding LB/RB with the right stick for tricks. Those controls are documented; their presence does not establish that every mobile browser or Android device can run the game.
Freestyle MX bike keyboard controls: F9 spawns the bike, E gets on or off, C is throttle, Z is brake, and V is clutch. Hold Q/R with the arrow keys for tricks, as stated on the play page. These bike instructions are distinct from the keyboard-to-controller mapping for the skater.
Fullscreen: the hosted game has a Fullscreen button. Its page also labels F11 as a fullscreen option. Use the game’s own controls rather than assuming this guide supplies a separate controller preset.
Known limits
The README’s stated environment is Chrome or Edge 113+ with WebGPU support. A browser name alone is not a compatibility promise: WebGPU support is part of that requirement. This website has not measured frame rate, loading performance, hardware compatibility or phone behavior.
The same README says the three large districts, DownTown, University and Industrial, are not on the web build yet. It specifically reports that University loads but never draws a frame in the browser. This is the author’s documented limitation, not a failure we reproduced.
Web audio uses a simple clean-room driver. The README distinguishes it from the desktop build’s retail-exact audio runtime, which emulates the retail guest and needs the disc’s banks. Do not use the desktop audio description as a promise about what you will hear here.
The project says the first load takes a few seconds for loading and shader compilation. That is its own timing description, not a benchmark from this site. The embed loads automatically; there is no separate Start click before the browser begins fetching the hosted game.
Multiplayer: how it works
To play Skate 3 online with this project, use the Multiplayer menu beside the map picker. According to the README, creating a private room produces an invitation link containing ?room=CODE. A public room appears in everyone’s menu with its map and player count, so other players can join.
The documented limit is up to 10 players on the same map. Positions, full-body ragdolls, poses, tricks and player collisions use the engine’s own skate-net session. These are the features the project lists; this website has not tested a multiplayer session or its reliability.
The README explains the browser transport separately. Browsers cannot open UDP sockets, so the datagrams travel over a WebSocket to a small room relay implemented as a Cloudflare Durable Object. The relay forwards bytes between room members. The description does not say that this website hosts the game or relay.
The first person to enter a room is its host. If that host leaves, the remaining players need to reload to continue. Keep that limit in mind when choosing who opens a session: the project does not describe seamless host migration for this browser build.
Community maps: three ways to load a park
The map picker can fetch community maps that are not stored in this repository. The README says they are downloaded by your browser when selected and are never part of the clean asset pack. A community map’s provenance should therefore be checked separately from the pack’s regeneration report.
1. skatemods.com: approved maps with a .skate conversion appear under Community maps in the game picker. The README gives ?smap=<map id> as the direct-link format. Check the map’s own page for its author and license; approval and a working conversion are the conditions described for this listing.
2. A map hosted at a URL: the project documents ?mapurl=https://.../park.skate. The host must allow cross-origin reads. The README names GitHub Pages and raw.githubusercontent.com as suitable examples, and says GitHub release download links do not allow those reads. A publicly reachable download link is not enough by itself.
3. A local file: choose Open .skate file… in the game’s map picker. This is the documented file-selection route for your own map, instead of providing a hosted URL.
Community maps are their authors’ work, used under the license shown on their skatemods page. The README explicitly says they are not regenerated or taint-scanned. Do not apply the clean pack’s texture, audio or geometry scan results to a separately loaded community map.
The query formats above describe the upstream game’s links. This guide embeds a fixed upstream URL and does not forward arbitrary map URLs, map IDs or room codes from this page’s address bar. Use the in-game picker here, or the original game link for its documented URL options.
What “clean room” means here
“Clean room” is the project’s description of its asset-generation process. The README says every image, sound and visual mesh in the regenerated pack is rebuilt rather than shipping retail pixels, samples or mesh buffers. The detailed statements below are attributed to that README, not to an audit performed by this website.
Textures: the pack table lists 7,681 textures rebuilt from each image’s dimensions, a 4×4 or 16×16 color grid and a 2-bit alpha outline, plus the project’s own detail noise and dithering. This covers maps, props, backdrops, skies, HUD and the skater model.
Visual geometry: geom.py regenerates 5.0 million triangles. Vertex positions use the project’s own lattice, and nearly flat quads that can use the other diagonal are retriangulated; the README puts that change at 70% of all triangles. Normals and tangent frames are recalculated from triangles, UVs use the project’s lattice, vertex and triangle ordering is new, and skater skin weights are requantized.
Audio: audio_clean.py synthesizes 27 player sound effects from coarse outlines of retail samples: per-frame pitch, harmonicity and a 16-band loudness envelope, combined with new noise and partials. Music and speech are not shipped. The README says the remaining disc content is dropped.
The README also lists information retained as facts. This includes surfaces to 0.4 mm, which materials cover them and where textures land; collision triangle positions, edge codes and surface IDs; grind rails, spawns and teleports; the skater skeleton, animations and state graphs; physics/VLT tuning; input and camera configuration; HUD and sky layouts; lighting parameters and irradiance probes. Decoded collision triangle lists remain bit-for-bit identical.
Texture and sound scanning: the author reports zero failures when comparing 7,692 textures, including dmjumpline, and all 27 sounds with retail files. The stated checks found no shared run of 32 bytes or more, no texture sharing four or more sampled windows with any single retail texture, and no regenerated file identical to a retail file. The 7,681 pack-table count and 7,692 scan count describe different reported scopes.
Geometry scanning: the README reports zero failures and no shared 32-byte run. Of 6.6 million vertices, 615, or 0.009%, retain the same three position floats. The author attributes these to distant backdrop corners where a float cannot represent a sub-millimeter change.
The author also explains what regeneration does not change: the parks retain their layouts. The pack ships no retail mesh data for those layouts, but it is not a different level design. These technical scan results do not establish malware safety or settle copyright questions. This guide has not independently reproduced the scans or verified rights, and community maps are outside their scope.
Quick start and FAQ
Open this page in Chrome or Edge 113+ with WebGPU support. The embedded game starts loading automatically. No separate game-client download or installer is needed, but the browser still downloads the code and assets required to run it. “No download” in the page title refers to avoiding a standalone installation, not to zero network transfer.
Change parks with the in-game map selector. The upstream game also documents ?map=Name in its own URL. For multiplayer, use the menu beside that selector and follow the room options described above. This guide does not pass map or invitation parameters into the embed.
Skate 3 fan game — is it official? No. skate3-cleanroom is andrewnakas’s fan project, not an EA release. Its README says regenerated assets replace retail pixel, sound-sample and visual-mesh buffers, while also listing retained information. This website is a third-party ReSkate guide, not the project’s publisher, and does not distribute a retail disc or a separate game-file download.
Skate 3 browser download — do I need to install anything? No standalone client installation is required for this hosted browser build. Your browser fetches the runtime and game resources. The original project page is the source for the build; this guide embeds it rather than repackaging those files.
Skate 3 browser free — is there a purchase step? The hosted play page offers browser play without a listed purchase step. The README describes the regenerated pack, omission of music and speech, and absence of retail mesh buffers. Those asset choices are not proof of a legal entitlement or an explanation of pricing. This guide makes no claim that a clean-room process automatically grants permission.
Skate 3 browser Android — will it run on my phone? The project’s declared environment is Chrome or Edge 113+ with WebGPU. The play page documents touch inputs, but this site has not tested Android, mobile performance or device compatibility. Check your device and browser support; no Android result is promised here.
